Secure Proxy Service for Enterprise Accounts

The ReadCube Secure Proxy Service enables organizations to enable authorized users to access digital content from existing journal subscriptions.  The service can be configured to work with IP-based site licenses as well as content token purchase programs.  

How does it work?

Your ReadCube implementation team will setup a secure proxy server in the cloud with a dedicated IP address that is unique to your organization.  In the ReadCube administrator dashboard you may configure authorization details as well as holdings information for which publishers you have site licenses or token programs. You can then register your dedicated IP address with each publisher you wish to enable access.

What are the benefits?

The ReadCube Secure Proxy enables your organization’s authorized users to securely access digital content through the ReadCube software at anytime and from anywhere.  Many organizations register their office IP addresses with publishers to enable access within the buildings.  The ReadCube Secure Proxy enables remote staff to access content from any internet connection.  Some organizations also leverage the ReadCube Secure Proxy within their office when they have dynamic IP addresses.

How is the ReadCube Secure Proxy Service secure?

Only authorized users who have authenticated with your institution (e.g. via SSO) are able to access the ReadCube Secure Proxy service.  Administrators have the ability to monitor usage and disable user access in the administrative dashboard. 

How is the ReadCube Secure Proxy different from an EZProxy?

The ReadCube Secure Proxy works very similarly to an EZProxy but is designed to work specifically with the ReadCube web, desktop, mobile, and browser extension software.  If you already have an EZproxy setup, the ReadCube Secure Proxy service may not be needed, as your ReadCube implementation team can help you configure the ReadCube software to use the EZproxy instead to access subscribed or token content.
