If you are citing with an author who’s first or surname is multi-text such as John David or De Santos using SmartCite <\/a>the  add-in will only recognize the first text of the author’s name as the first name and the last text as the last name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our team is aware of this and our team is working on having the application recognize these names in a future update of the application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A workaround for this is to enter a \u201cno backspace\u201d (nbsp) character that will insert a space between the multi-part surnames. To enter this character, put your cursor where you want to insert the no-backspace and use one of the following commands:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple keyboard<\/td>option + space bar<\/td><\/tr>
Windows keyboard<\/td>alt, type A0<\/td><\/tr>
Linux keyboard<\/td>ctrl+shift, type UA0<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Alternatively, you can also copy the nbsp character using this\u00a0website<\/a>\u00a0to be place in-between the text for the first or surname when editing the metadata of the desired article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After saving the metadata associated with the entry will then recognize it as ‘one’ text and show it correctly when citing.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
