We are thrilled to announce another collaboration between Digital Science products, Anywhere Access and Symplectic. Since it’s launch in July, Anywhere Access is connecting researchers to full-text articles across multiple discovery search engines.
Today, we are excited to share that Anywhere Access is now natively integrated within the Symplectic Elements Discovery Module giving users access to full-text content at the click of a button. For all Open Access and subscribed library content, patrons will see a familiar “View PDF” button displayed below the author section of the particular journal article.
After clicking on the “View PDF” button, the article will appear in the interactive enhanced PDF viewer as a shadow box on top of the search results (meaning users never leave the screen!)
From there users can choose to download the PDF to a local file on their computer, find related articles and make any annotations or highlights. The best part, ReadCube is also built into the full-text article, making it even easier to save any notes directly to a ReadCube library.
Jonathan Breeze, CEO of Symplectic said:
“We were delighted to be asked to incorporate the Anywhere Access code within the Elements Discovery Module.
Until recently, viewing full-text articles discovered via an institutional webpage resulted in lost user traffic and – let’s be honest – a fairly unsatisfactory user experience. Thanks to Anywhere Access, users of the Symplectic Elements Discovery Module can view full-text articles alongside other files that may have been deposited in an institution’s Open Repository without being redirected away from the researcher’s institutional profile page.”
This integration is available to clients using the Symplectic Discovery Module. See here for more information.
